Build to Drawing: Send These Four Items for the Fastest, Most Accurate Quote

Resources · Build to Drawing · 2026-09-10
GU Electric build-to-drawing guide: send four items (outline dimensions / single-line diagram / component list / quantity and lead time) for the fastest quote. Drawings go through a review first (manufacturability, safety and compliance, cost balance), and proposed changes are executed only after your confirmation. You can sign an NDA before sending drawings; keeping drawings and BOMs confidential is standard practice.

Send These Four Items for the Fastest, Most Accurate Quote

The more complete these four items are, the more accurate the quote. A single photo is enough to get started, but you'll get a price range rather than an exact figure.

Drawing Review: Not a Blind Build to Drawing

Drawings go through a review first, focused on three things:

Every proposed change is explained to you up front and executed only after your confirmation — no unauthorized changes, and no blind build to drawing just to win the order.

Drawing Confidentiality (NDA) Policy

Custom projects often require seeing drawings before we can give an answer. If you're concerned about drawings leaking:

FAQ: Common Questions About Build-to-Drawing Customization

Build-to-Drawing FAQ

What do I need to provide for a custom control cabinet?

Four things get you a quote fastest: an outline dimension drawing or photo, a single-line diagram / one-line diagram, a component list (BOM) or functional requirements, and quantity plus target delivery date. If you don't have a BOM, describing the functional requirements is enough for our engineers to work back to a solution.

What if I'm worried about my drawings leaking?

We can sign an NDA before you send drawings — this is standard practice on all our custom projects, not special treatment. The NDA covers drawings, BOM, and process information, and takes effect upon signature and seal by both parties.

Will you always build exactly to my drawing?

We review the drawings first. Where a detail is unsuitable for volume production or carries a risk, our engineers propose changes and proceed only after you confirm. We won't force a build to drawing just to win the order, and we won't make changes without telling you.

Have drawings? Sign an NDA first, then send them over

If confidentiality is a concern, we'll complete the NDA process before you send drawings. With all four items in hand, our engineers provide a quote range the same business day.
