Five steps to specify your run

Build details
Systems have been in service for decades, and the failure points are always the same few: poor busbar contact, water ingress at the door seal, high temperature rise in the correction cabinet, and mis-phased outgoing feeders. The six hard rules below are written for exactly these points — every cabinet can be traced to them.
Separate compartments for metering and line circuits
Metering and line compartments have separate doors and locks: the utility seals and accesses the metering door, property maintenance uses the line door — clear responsibility, no crossover.
30 mA mandatory in the field
In wet field conditions, 30 mA ground fault protection is mandatory on every circuit: a cracked pump cable will trip faster than a person can get shocked — this is the baseline for rural electrical safety, not an option we sell.
Two-stage SPD in open areas
Open fields see dense lightning strikes: incoming-line SPD plus reliable enclosure grounding (grounding terminals and labels placed up front). After a strike, inspect the SPD degradation window — if it has failed, unplug and replace.
Set to irrigation and drainage load profile
Full load during irrigation season, light load off-season: compensation is set with fine-grained group switching — no reverse feed at light load, target power factor at full load. Controller parameters are written into the handover documentation based on the load curve.
All welds and openings sealed
Stainless steel enclosure welds are ground and sealed, and every opening uses a cable gland: moisture and agricultural chemical vapors in the field get in fastest through holes and seams — nothing is cut short here.
Pole number is the box number
Enclosure numbers correspond to the distribution-area pole numbers, and label plates are reflective, so utility crews can find the box by pole number without digging through records.

Six questions procurement and electrical engineers ask most
Do you supply the meters inside the JP cabinet?
Metering and calibration seals are the utility's responsibility. We provide the meter positions, current transformers and secondary circuits, with cutouts and barriers per the local utility's cabinet specification — JP cabinet specs vary from county to county, so send us your local standard for verification before ordering.
Is pole mounting secure?
Pole clamps are supplied to match concrete or wood pole specifications, with a reinforced back panel on the enclosure. Wind load is calculated per local meteorological conditions. Installation is done by a licensed electrician (installation instructions and pole clamp list included), or we can guide you remotely.
What if the power factor falls short during irrigation season?
Pump banks draw heavy inductive reactive power at full load. In-cabinet compensation switches in automatically by group (switching delay set to match pump starting characteristics), holding cosφ above 0.9 through irrigation season. If you have an existing cabinet that falls short, send us the transformer capacity and pump ratings and we will calculate the compensation gap.
How does it handle lightning strikes?
Two-stage SPD plus enclosure grounding terminals (grounding resistance installed per local requirements) — in open field locations this is essential protection. The SPD uses replaceable modules: when the degradation indicator window changes color, swap the module instead of the whole cabinet.
Stainless steel or galvanized — which should I choose?
For coastal areas, livestock farms or heavy agrochemical exposure, choose 304 stainless steel (service life more than double). For inland general agricultural areas, hot-dip galvanized with powder coating is sufficient and saves about 30%. We specify based on site conditions and won't push the expensive option.
How many wells can one cabinet serve?
Based on pump rating: typically 4–6 branch circuits, one well per circuit (7.5–15 kW is common), with total capacity calculated against the transformer and incoming breaker. For districts with scattered wells, we recommend one cabinet per well so a fault doesn't take down the others.
