BESS containers sit outdoors long-term, and rainwater enters throughdoor gaskets, roof seams, cable pass-throughs, and louvered vents. The consequences of ingress: reduced insulation → short circuit → a trigger for thermal runaway; condensation inside the cabinet → busbar corrosion → rising contact resistance → overheating. That is why outdoor cabinets are commonly specified at IP54/IP55 or higher, and the rain test is what verifies this line of defense.

- Door gasket: breaks in the continuous seal, open joints at 45° corners → switch to one-piece foamed gasket or a continuous compression seal;
- Top panel seams: intermittent lap welds on the top panel → switch to full welding + sealant + drip edge;
- Cable entry holes: bottom cable glands not fully sealed → install waterproof cable glands per specification;
- Fans / louvers: louvers facing the water → add a rain hood + louvered airflow labyrinth.
