Why ordinary cabinets do not survive in a water plant
A cabinet that holds up in a dry workshop will not necessarily survive a chlorinated, condensing, unmanned pump house. These are the four failure modes we design against — we have repaired too many counter-examples.
Condensation and corrosion, rotting from the inside out
Wet areas cycle hot and cold every night. If the bottom gland plate is not sealed, there is no anti-condensation heater, and the coating is the wrong grade, moisture gets in and eats the terminals — usually within 18 months, and always in the worst season of the year.
VFD overheating and nuisance trips
Pump VFDs run 24 hours a day, sealed inside a cabinet. Without enough heat dissipation, without an input reactor, and with power and analog cables sharing a duct, you get tripping that looks like a VFD fault but is actually a thermal and EMC problem.
An alarm at 3 a.m. and nobody on site
An unmanned station needs a cabinet that can speak. Without a clean I/O mapping, spare capacity and a defined communication interface, connecting SCADA later means rewiring a cabinet you have already paid for.
A late cabinet holds up the whole commissioning
On municipal and EPC projects the control cabinet is often specified last and blamed first. Missing documentation and inconsistent wire numbering can make site rework cost more than the cabinet itself.
What changed inside the cabinet, and why it works
Four design decisions, each mapped to a failure mode above. Every one is a standard option we can quote directly, not a special request.
| Design decision | What changes in the cabinet | How to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Moisture ingress and corrosion | IP65 foamed door gasket, sealed bottom gland plate, touchscreen window with 1-2 mm fit and a sealing groove, anti-condensation heater with humidity controller; 304 / 316 stainless steel when the environment calls for it. | IP test report to IEC 60529 / GB 4208 supplied with the cabinet. |
| VFD overheating and interference | Heat load calculated from motor data, then filtered fans, heat exchangers or cabinet air conditioners; ≥150 mm air path above and below the VFD, input reactors, and analog signals routed separately from power. | Temperature-rise type verification on a design prototype (busbar ≤70 K). |
| Unmanned operation | 20% spare I/O, a defined Modbus RTU/TCP or Profinet interface, and every field terminal numbered — the platform integrator can connect without visiting site. | As-built schematic and terminal schedule delivered with the cabinet. |
| Commissioning deadline risk | Delivered 15-25 days after drawing approval, 98% on-time; the documentation pack — schematic, BOM, test report, packing list — reaches you before the cabinet does. | Finished-cabinet photos and routine test records before dispatch. |
Equipment and applications we have built in this category
Water and environmental is one of our main focuses. Both items below have their own design documentation and photography — we can talk about the approach directly.
Application packages for water & environmental
These are the equipment and approaches we have built in this category. Each package page covers the duty conditions, the problem, how the cabinet is configured, and what can be customized per project.
Filter press control cabinet
Full feed, squeeze, blow-down and discharge sequence for plate-and-frame and membrane filter presses, including pressure hold and plate-shift trolley control.

Most water projects are a combination of these three. If your scope differs, we build to your single-line diagram.

Photo evidence: complete unit, interior and industry-specific details
The three slots below are photo positions for cabinets in this industry. We have built for these duty conditions, but site photos have to be collected project by project; placeholders are used until then, with a brief under each. Replace once photos arrive — no customer or project is identified on the page.

From drawing to shipment, in five steps
IP65 sealed enclosure with bottom gland plate, timed duty/standby rotation with hour equalization, bypass on the VFD or soft-starter drive section, 20% spare I/O, and full Modbus interface documentation; filter press cabinets additionally include pressure-hold and plate-shift programs.
01 Send drawings & duty conditions
Send the single-line diagram / load list / protection requirements / quantity. Quote within 1 working day.
02 Drawing review
An electrical engineer verifies the selection item by item, with a call if circuit details need clarifying, and issues a revised schematic.
03 Order & scheduling
Delivered 15-25 days after scheduling begins; urgent orders can take a fast track (volume plus stock components).
04 Factory testing
Every unit gets a powered functional test + 2500 V·1 min withstand + ground continuity + IP sampling.
05 Dispatch & acceptance
Finished-cabinet photos and routine test records before dispatch; the full documentation pack travels with the cabinet so commissioning can start on arrival.

Industry FAQs
Can an outdoor pump station cabinet really be IP65?
Yes. IP65 is a method, not a promise: foamed door gasket, sealed bottom gland plate, sealed touchscreen window, rain canopy. The IP test report is supplied with the cabinet. For coastal sites or dosing rooms we recommend 316 stainless steel outright rather than powder-coated steel.
Do we supply the VFDs, or do you buy them?
Either way. We usually source Siemens SINAMICS, ABB ACS, Schneider Altivar and Delta, and we also build cabinets with VFDs you send to our factory. If a particular rating has a long lead time, we tell you at quotation stage so you can decide.
Can the cabinet connect to our existing SCADA?
In most cases, yes. We wire to documented Modbus RTU/TCP, Profinet or EtherNet/IP interfaces and leave 20% spare I/O as standard. Send us the protocol and register map you use and we will confirm compatibility before quoting.
Do you write the filter press program?
Yes. The feed-squeeze-blow-down-discharge sequence, pressure-hold time, plate-shift trolley position and pressure interlocks are all written into the PLC and simulation-tested before dispatch. If you have an existing process sequence, we can implement that instead.
How do you handle damp or chlorinated environments?
Material first — 304 for general wet areas, 316 for dosing rooms and coastal sites. Then sealing: an anti-condensation heater with humidity controller, and a coating held at 60-80 μm film thickness after phosphating. Tell us the medium on site and we will specify honestly.
MOQ and lead time?
MOQ 1 unit, 5 or more recommended for production; 15-25 days after drawing approval, with 98% on-time delivery. Spare-parts cabinets and repeat orders are usually faster because the drawings already exist.
