Why sorting line cabinets are the hardest to service

Fast cycle times mean high downtime cost — an hour of sorting line downtime can mean a full day of order backlog. These are the four problems we handle most often on this type of equipment.

Issue 01

Stop one zone and the whole line goes down

Power is not grouped by zone, so a single motor fault trips the main breaker. What should affect one section ends up stopping the entire line.

Issue 02

Fault location means sending someone to the floor

With no zone status feedback and no clear circuit identification, a fault means walking the line section by section. The night maintenance window is only a few hours, and all of it goes to finding the fault.

Issue 03

VFDs packed together amplify both heat and interference

With a dozen or more VFDs in one cabinet, thermal load and EMC problems show up at the same time: derating trips in summer, intermittent encoder signal loss.

Issue 04

Safety interlocks are not zoned

Emergency stop and door interlock are wired as a single global stop, so servicing one zone requires shutting down the whole line; conversely, some doors can be opened while the equipment still jogs — neither passes a safety inspection.

04 Factory testing

Every unit gets a powered functional test + 2500 V·1 min withstand + ground continuity + IP sampling.

05 Dispatch & acceptance

Finished-cabinet photos and routine test records before dispatch; the full documentation pack travels with the cabinet so commissioning can start on arrival.

Industry FAQs

Have you actually done sorting lines and cross-belt sorters?

Yes — it is one of our delivered track-record categories. One note: for this type we have no customer site photos or project figures we can publish, so this page uses no images and no numbers — but zoned power supply, drive layout and safety zoning can all be discussed around your equipment.

Can you build multiple cabinets zoned to our equipment?

Yes. Splitting by zone is standard practice: the main cabinet handles line-wide control, zone cabinets are placed nearby to shorten power cable runs. Send us the zoning drawing and motor list, and we will issue a layout drawing by zone.

How do barcode scanners, photoelectric sensors and the host system connect?

Barcode scanner and photoelectric signals go into the PLC; the host WCS runs over Ethernet or serial. We list the interface terminals and address table clearly, and your integrator connects against the table — no site visit needed.

Can E-stops and safety doors be zoned?

Yes, and zoning is recommended. The E-stop chain is hardwired, independent of the PLC, and safety door switches are wired into the control circuit of the corresponding zone; we provide an E-stop zoning drawing to support your safety acceptance.

Do we buy the VFDs ourselves or do you supply them?

Either way. We commonly use Siemens, ABB, Schneider and Delta, and we also install customer-supplied parts. On large quantities we flag delivery risk at the quotation stage so you can decide.

MOQ and lead time?

MOQ 1 piece, ≥5 pieces recommended for volume; 15–25 days after drawing confirmation, 98% on-time delivery. Full-line projects can be delivered in batches by zone.
