Why outdoor generator sets are so hard on control cabinets
A containerized ORC skid is a small power plant with nobody walking past it. It has to start itself, synchronize to the grid, protect itself and shut down safely — through sun, rain, dust and process heat. These are the four failure modes we design against.
Direct sun cooks the cabinet
In summer, a dark enclosure in direct sunlight can run 20–30K above ambient inside. The VFD and PLC derate first, then trip — and every trip is power that never got sold.
Condensation the moment it cools at night
A skid that bakes by day and cools sharply at night pulls moisture in through every unsealed gland. One quarter of that and terminals corrode and analog signals start jumping for no traceable reason.
The grid interface does not negotiate
Synchronization, anti-islanding and protection settings are not preferences — they are the utility's interconnection conditions. Without a documented protection scheme, you will not pass the grid review.
No two skids are the same
Build ten skids by hand and you get ten interpretations of the wiring. Spare parts, troubleshooting and documentation get harder to manage with every unit.

Every unit gets a powered functional test + 2500 V·1 min withstand + ground continuity + IP sampling.
05 Dispatch & acceptance
Finished-cabinet photos and routine test records before dispatch; the full documentation pack travels with the cabinet so commissioning can start on arrival.

Industry FAQs
Can the cabinet handle direct sun and high ambient temperatures?
Yes, provided the cooling is sized correctly. We size it to your component heat load and site design ambient temperature: brushed stainless steel with a sun shield first, then filtered ventilation, heat exchanger or cabinet air conditioner if needed. Whatever the calculation calls for is what we use.
Do you handle anti-islanding and grid-tie protection?
Yes. Synchronization relays plus anti-islanding, reverse power, over/under voltage and over/under frequency protection, plus energy metering. We issue the protection setting sheet and cause-and-effect matrix for your grid connection application.
How is emergency shutdown handled?
The ESD chain is hardwired and independent of the PLC. Software interlocks are an added layer; the safety path does not depend on the processor still running.
Can we monitor skid data remotely?
Yes — Modbus TCP or Profinet to your plant-level system, or 4G or Ethernet remote per your IT policy, with VPN or read-only data isolation.
Can you deliver 30 identical skids on a production schedule?
Yes. Batch production is exactly where this process pays off most: one approved drawing set, identical terminal and wire numbering across the whole batch, and a separate test package for each individually numbered unit. 5,000 sqm workshop, 5,800+ units per year.
Can you take on wind turbine lift packages and similar work?
Worth discussing. The core is outdoor sealing, fall-arrest interlocking and limit protection, and vibration-damped mounting inside the tower — a combination of tasks we have done. Send the electrical conditions and safety requirements and we will start with a design review.
