Foam Gasket Sealing: EPDM at 20–30% Compression, Continuous Through Corners
Foam Gasket Sealing: What Actually Delivers the IP Rating
Foam Gasket Sealing: What Delivers the IP Rating
IP65/IP66 sealing does not come from the enclosure itself — it comes from the foam gasket on the door frame. Material, compression and continuity all have to be right before the rating is real.

Common causes of gasket failure
- Material not oil- or temperature-resistant (outdoor cabinets need a weather-resistant grade);
- Excessive compression causes permanent deformation;
- No continuity at corners and cutouts — spray water enters through the gaps;
- Door distortion (insufficient sheet thickness and bending accuracy).
